In 2006 Nintendo launched the Wii console. It was a huge success for Nintendo. The innovative motion controls and community based gaming ideology make it an instant hit. It is one of the best selling game consoles of all time with over 101 million consoles sold worldwide. 

The controls kept people moving and allowed for gaming that had never been available before. Full interaction with your console was a mainstay with the Wii and people of all ages fell in love. 

The Wii has a vast selection of amazing titles from first and third part developers. The innovative gameplay style and it's worldwide success had other gaming companies copy Nintendo's ideas and come out with their own motion activated gameplay controllers and games. However Nintendo was already ahead of the competition and the quality of the Wii's controls were unable to be matched by other companies.
